Like many of you, I am deeply struck and saddened by the tragedy in Orlando. When I saw the news on Facebook, the tears started flowing. I keep switching between feeling numb and crying. Jim and I always talk about the state of the world in how it relates to our son Ryker, and events like this seem more poignant than ever now that we are parents.
Like many of you, I want to DO something. We live only a couple hours away, and I feel guilty for staying in St Pete. I feel like I should be setting up a Reiki station for the victims' friends and families, yet this is challenging with a four-month-old. Like everyone, I am praying, but I want to do MORE.
So I've recorded a Love Meditation for Empaths, as my way of doing SOMETHING, anything. Please join me in doing this meditation as many times as you would like.
It includes 3 common mantras you hear in many yoga classes.
The meditation begins with the Adi Mantra, which Yogi Bhajan taught as a tool to instantly relate to the divine teacher within. It is chanted at the beginning of every Kundalini Yoga class, to help center us. It translates approximately to, "I bow to the subtle divine wisdom. I bow to the divine teacher within."
Next is the Mantra of Protection, which is to be chanted 3 times after the Adi Mantra. This invokes the protective energy of the universe. It essentially means, "I bow to the primal Guru... to the truth that has existed throughout the ages... to True Wisdom... to the Great Divine Wisdom"
After some breathing and guided visualization, the meditation ends with three OMS, completed with three Shanti's. OM is absolute infinity. Shanti is PEACE or TRANQUILITY.
